Quick post today folks! Jennilee’s parents and brother are coming down to visit for the weekend, so we’ve got plenty to do today. Our last leg of our stay in Bangkok brought us to Khao San road. We weren’t dying to see the road since it’s pretty much THE tourist hangout. When we got there, we were not disappointed. Lots of street vendors and shops, all seemed overpriced to cater to the unknowing tourists coming in.
After Khao San road, we did a little bit more exploring. Since we saw almost everything we’ve already wanted to see in Bangkok, plus the fact that we’ve gotten comfortable getting around, it was more of a leisurely exploration. We found some pretty cool things around the city, like a woman feeding a large turtle bananas from a stick!
Before going to Thailand, Jennilee and I made a list of things that we definitely wanted to do. On that list was watching a live Muay Thai match. So we booked our tickets through our concierge, and we were off to watch Thai boxing at Lumpinee Boxing Stadium! The sights and the sounds were almost overwhelming. Every time the fighters got into the ring, there was plenty of ritual and show to go through before the actual fight. There was also live music playing the entire time. The main sound that you’ll hear from the music is the Pi Java (Javanese clarinet). The music tone would rise and fall and the tempo would go slower or faster, depending on the pace of the fight. It was definitely a spiritual experience.

THAILAND AINT NO BARGIN AT ALL!
THEM IS SOME MONEY GRUBBING PEOPLE THERE.
I think it was pretty cheap over there, considering the exchange rate at the time was 30BHT for only $1.
